Ethiopia’s Meseret Dinke Meleka won the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon title, in a new record time of 2:42:02 on Sunday, 16 October 2022.

Kenya’s Tecla Kirongo finished second in a time of 2:27:56, while compatriot Judith Cherono came in third in 2:30:32 to round up the podium.
In the inaugural elite women’s wheelchair division, Brazil’s Vanessa Cristina de Souza came in first in 1:57:48, while Noemi Alphonse from Mauritius followed to finish second in 1:57:49, and Britain’s Paralympian Shelly Wood concluded the top three in a time of 2:16:30.
