Tanzania defeated France 2-1 in their Group D encounter at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India, on Saturday, 15 October 2022.

Goals from Dianna Mnally and Christer Bahera gave the Serengeti Girls their first victory at their first-ever World Cup appearance.

The team from the African continent suffered a 4-0 defeat to Japan in their first group game, and needed this victory to keep alive their hopes of progressing further than the group stage.

Tanzania find themselves in the same group as Japan, France and Canada, who they face in their next game on Tuesday.

The Serengeti Girls are second behind Japan in group D ahead of their final group game against the Canadians on Tuesday, 18 October 2022.
