Banyana Banyana striker Andisiwe Mgcoyi is turning out to be a sensation in the Slovakian Women’s League having finished the league season as overall second top goal scorer for her club FC Union Nové Zámky.

The towering striker has proved to be a revelation for her Slovakian club after signing a two-year contract with Slovakian Women’s First league side, scoring an amazing 13 goals in 10 games to help the club finish top of the log and claim the 2012/2013 league title.

Mgcoyi who has been capped 39 times and scored 9 goals in Banyana Banyana colours, moved from Sundowns Ladiess F.C (Sasol league, Gauteng) to the Slovakian women’s side a few months ago and immediately turned into an immediate sensation.

Speaking from Slovakia, Mgcoyi said she had adjusted well to the conditions in the central European country and is excited about converting her experience for Banyana Banyana. Mgcoyi feels competing in the Slovakian I Liga Zeny will open doors to an even greater football future. “Everything is going on very well in this part of the world.

“We are now in the summer season and currently it very hot this side, but I am adapting well. It is exciting to be playing in a professional league. It is more competitive, but I am happy the Sasol league opened doors for me and my club mate Tshepiso Mokabane, from Croesus Ladies FC (Sasol league, Gauteng).

“By playing in Slovakian women’s league, it will definitely open doors to an even greater football future. I would like to see myself playing in more competitive leagues like in England or Germany in the near future.

“We have taken a break for a week, but will resume preparations next week for the UEFA Women’s Championship qualifiers, due to begin in August.” said Mgcoyi.

The gangling striker has also taken a keen interest in learning the local language and hopes by the end of her contract in two years, will be efficient in the local language.”The main challenge here is the language barrier with only a handful of players in the club able to communicate in English.

“I have been learning the basics of Slovak, but with time I will catch up. We spend about 30 minutes with a local development team, during this time we interact and tutor them with the basics of English, and in turn we take the opportunity to learn the local language,” said Mgcoyi.

She has also set her sights on cementing her goal scoring form.“I hope to make a valid contribution towards the clubs’ success, as well as Banyana Banyana in the upcoming competitions,” she added.
