South African judoka Michaela Whitebooi has moved up the world rankings following her performance at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Friday, 28 October 2022.

The 2022 Momentum gsport Awards Ministerial Recognition of Excellence Award recipient, Whitebooi finished 12th at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Her efforts there pushed her up the world ranking – all the way to 30 overall.

As Whitebooi shifts focus to compete at the 2022 Grand Slam Baku tournament in Azerbaijan from 4-6 November 2022, she will be hoping to earn another 100 or 200 points to go to the Masters in December, which is the Top 30 of the weight category.

The 26-year-old competes in the women’s 48kg weight class.
