Miché, thank you for chatting to us. Please tell us about yourself and where you are from.

My name is Miché Minnies and I’m-20-years old from Heinz Park in Mitchells Plain – Cape Town.

We must congratulate you for being awarded the Top Goal Scorer and Player of the Tournament at the recently concluded Sasol League Championships. What do these accolades mean to you?

My awards mean a lot because before we went to the playoffs, I told one of my teammates that I will go out there and win awards because I believe in myself, and I was going to score goals for my team to win the playoffs.

What was the overall experience like getting the opportunity to play in the tournament?

The experience was so great because playing against the teams wasn’t easy. It was hard but we did work together to become champions.

Who would you say was your toughest opposition during the Sasol League National Champs playoffs?

Croesus Ladies were our toughest opponents.

Let’s get to know more about you – when and where did your love for sport begin?

I was always watching the boys playing football so I asked my parents if I could play, and they approved.

Why did you choose football instead of any other sporting code?

I chose football because it was always my dream.

If you weren’t playing football, where would one find you in another sporting code?

At first, I played netball, so I would probably still be if not for football.

How did you join Vasco da Gama ladies team?

I joined the club when my coach Ashraf Calvert left our previous club.

Now that you are entering the much-anticipated Hollywoodbets Super League. What are your expectations and what are you looking forward to?

I expect great things in the Hollywoodbets Super League, but we must work hard throughout and I’m looking forward to winning and be the best out there.

Who are some of the sportswomen you admire and why?

A lot of South African players overseas, but I look up to Thalea Smidt (Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies) she is a great sportswoman.

What’s your greatest ambition?

My greatest ambition is to become a well-rounded player and play overseas.
