South Africa’s World Cup Run Ends with Loss Against England

To honour the team’s outstanding performance at the global showpiece, which included only two losses through the tournament, title sponsors Momentum showed tremendous support.

Head of Sponsorships & Events at Momentum, Carel Bosman Tweeted: “We welcome back the Momentum Proteas from New Zealand. We are incredibly proud of the way you played & represented our country ‪#SheOwnsHerSuccess ‪#OneMoreFan

The vibe at International Arrivals was buzzing as supporters donned “Put Women’s Sport on the Map” regalia as Momentum are encouraging more sport fanatics to rally behind the national team with their #OneMoreFan campaign.

Speaking at the arrival press conference, Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Nocawe Mafu, said: “From everyone at government, we are very proud.

“We are proud of what you [the team] displayed in New Zealand, we know that you were up against the best teams in the world – teams that have all the support, especially in terms of even the corporate sector,” she added.

“Those countries have leagues – you don’t – but you were able to give them a run for their money.”

Mafu encouraged corporates to back women athletes and teams: “We need to put our money where our mouths are as a country. I know that when we host that T20 [World Cup] next year, the girls will do us proud,” she concluded.
