Monica Gorny showed her form in an outstanding victory over Great Britain’s Aimee Gibson, when she dominated the Girls Singles final of the ITF/SATA Junior Championships, played in East London on Thursday.
Top seeded Gorny lost only two games in beating unseeded Gibson 6-2 6-0, and is increasingly tipped as a future star of South African tennis, and was in a class of her own, failing to loose a set all week.
"Its always good to win a tournament at home, especially if it is an international title," said Gorny afterwards. "I am very happy with my game, and I hope that I can take my form across to the next tournament in Port Elizabeth next week" said Gorny.
The second ITF/SATA Junior Championship will be played in Port Elizabeth at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University starting Saturday, where more than 128 players representing 18 countries will be in action, with the finals scheduled for Wednesday, 12 December 2007.
