Nabeehah Sayed: Seeking a Higher Level

My name is
Nabeehah Sayed and I am a Thaiboxer. Since I was very young, I have always
loved participating in sport. I play soccer at school level and have
participated in 2 show jumping competitions. I am a keen surfer and played U16
cricket for the Western province in 2006.

I started my
Thaiboxing (or Muay Thai) training two years ago when my cousins joined
Ray’s Kickboxing Academy in Wynberg. After the first year
I started competing in full contact fighting and fell in love with the
sport.

Thaiboxing
has taught me discipline and given my self-confidence a boost. The sport has
also showed me that hard work is required in order to achieve my goals.

During
September 2007, I competed at the South African full contact Kickboxing
Championships held in Durban.
I won a bronze medal and was selected for the President’s team to compete at
the World Champs in Italy
in 2008.

I was very
excited to have been selected to fight at the upcoming Fight Girls SA
tournament held at Ratanga Junction on 8 December 2007.

I will work
hard to achieve my goal of winning a gold medal at this prestigious event. I
will enjoy the opportunity to participate at an all-women full contact
tournament and see this as another opportunity to take my participation in this
sport to a higher level.
