The defender, who has over 100 caps for the national team, is eager to stamp her authority on the international scene and chart the course for more South African footballers who have their sights set abroad.

While we know how far South Africa still has to go in supporting and developing women’s football, we have to celebrate the strides made by Banyana Banyana players. The growing interest in our stars from international teams has been nothing short of encouraging.

Vilakazi is the second global signing this week after Jermaine Seoposenwe joined Sporting Braga in Portugal.

Her new team also welcomed their newest recruit with a special video.
