Vogue Arabia has set the tone for 2023, starting off the year with Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur on the cover of their latest edition.

Jabeur is a leader when it comes to the sporting industry in her country, as she is the only Arab player, male or female, to reach a singles grand slam final at both the 2022 Wimbledon and US Open tournaments.

And, she is also the first Arab woman to reach a major quarterfinal and the first Tunisian and Arab player to win at the 2022 Madrid Open.

Speaking in her Vogue interview, Jabeur shared her ambition to continue breaking barriers to inspire the next generation.

“I know that more kids in Tunisia now believe they could have a professional tennis career. Before, there wasn’t a clear picture of what that looks like.

“Now there is hope in the young generation. Even just seeing that more people in Tunisia are playing tennis for fun – these are great victories.”

This month, the 28-year-old will also feature in a Netflix documentary, Break Point: “You will see all the struggles, and what the players go through,” as Jabeur hints in her interview.
