Online voting has closed for the 2019 gsport Awards after a busy three-week period that saw the public cast their votes for their favourite candidates across 18 categories.
Now the results of public voting will be submitted to gsport’s Awards auditors, who will provide the list of overall winners to gsport.
Winners will be announced at the 2019 gsport Awards on Saturday, 31 August in Johannesburg, when the cream of women’s sport will gather for the country’s longest-running women’s sport awards.
Founder of the gsport Trust, Kass Naidoo, said: “The major leap for the gsport Awards this year was the big increase in media coverage of the Awards finalists across print, radio, online and television.
“The aim of the gsport Awards platform is to unearth icons and role models to inspire young girls to believe in the beauty of their dreams. We need to celebrate our successes and make no apology for it.”
One of the highlights of the public voting is who will win the Public Choice Award. This award is presented to the finalist who gets the most number of votes overall without winning the main award.
