Team South Africa were involved in five different sporting codes on Monday, 07 August at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, where two more medals added to the teams medal tally by Alicia Khunou and Simone Moll.

Khunou didn’t just add another gold medal for Team SA, but she also set a new shot put record with a throw of 17.97m. Australia’s X.Beale came in second place with a distance of 16.31m and India’s A. Valliyot in third place with a distance of 15.62m.

In the swimming pool it was Simone Moll who made a splash to grab silver in the women’s 50m breaststroke final in a time of 32.34s.

In case you missed day one’s action, Jessica Thompson showed off in the swimming pool grabbing Team South Africa’s first gold in the women’s 50m butterfly.
