SA Draw World Champs Holland in London Cup Semi

Photo: Donald MacLeodAn on-song world number four Great Britain did everything but beat world number three Germany in a vital Pool B match at the Investec London Cup in Chiswick Thursday night.

The outcome of Germany’s 2-1 win is that the Investec South Africa women’s hockey team will meet world number one Holland in the first semi-final at 3.30 pm Saturday, a match that will be televised live on Supersport 4.

SuperSport communications manager Clinton van der Berg confirmed Thursday that the South African semi-final will be live on SuperSport 4.

The earlier match saw Holland beat Ireland 5-1 to win Pool A.

The second semi-final will see Germany against world number seven Australia, second in Pool B, at 6 pm SA time.

Whether SA reach the final or not, Sunday’s gold medal match will be live on SuperSport 6 at 5 pm SA time. Should SA not make the final, the bronze medal match they participate in will also be televised. Sunday’s bronze medal match is at 2.15 pm SA time.
