The South African National Women’s Hockey team travelled to Chile where they played a total of three test matches and three friendlies.
The hosts secured a 2-1 victory, while South Africa won two out of the three friendly encounters.
On 27 April, South Africa succumbed to a 2-1 loss in the first friendly. The only goal for the visitors were scored by Jean-Leigh du Toit.
The second friendly was played on 28th April, where the South Africans pulled a comeback to win 2-0, with goals from Cailynn Den Bakker and Quanita Bobbs.
The third friendly was played on 2 May where South Africa were victorious once again, beating Chile 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Antoinette Louw.
The real action started on 30 April when the two country’s went head to head in the first of three matches in their series.
It was the women in green and gold who won the match 2-1 with goals from Cecilia Seerane and Tarryn Lombard.
The second test took place on 4 May, this time the encounter went to the host nation who secured a 2-1 victory over South Africa. South Africa’s goal was scored by Quanita Bobbs.
The third and final test was a tight battle with Chile winning the match 1-0 with a late strike to secure the series 2-1.
