Sanchia Malan rode away from the chasing bunch for a convincing win at the “tough” 2024 Underberg Gran Fondo cycle race in the foothills of the Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 28 July, 2024.
Malan (Index Property Solutions), who is coached by this year’s men’s champion, Tyronne White, crossed the line in the 140km gravel event in a time of 5:59:24.
Mikayla Benkenstein finished in second place, edging out Malan’s Swiss Epic teammate, Hayley Smith (Bell), and then Mikaela Hagemann in a close battle for the minor placings.
