Semenya Wins Gauteng Sportswoman of the Year

South Africa’s golden girl of athletics, Caster Semenya, walked away with yet another major award when she scooped the Sportswoman of the Year Award, at the 2013 Gauteng Sports Awards held at Emperors Palace on Saturday night.

Already lauded as the 2012 gsport Athlete of the Year, and the 2012 SA Sports Award Sportswoman of the Year, Semenya said: “It’s a great feeling to win back-to-back awards, and I feel privileged and honoured to win this award.

“I would like to thank God for this great talent, and also my coach for the hard work, family and friends, and all people of South Africa for their support.”

South Africa’s number one wheelchair tennis player, Kg Montjane, said that she was delighted to win the Sportswoman of the Year with a Disability, following a stellar year.

“You can accomplish anything you put your mind to, all it takes is time, patience and determination!” said Montjane.
