Double Olympic champion, Caster Semenya, has made a triumphant return to the track with a season-opening win over 300m in the Newton Classic Shootout at the University of Johannesburg.
In her first competitive event since June last year, Semenya won the 300m race in 36.78 seconds, a new national record over that distance.
The Classic Shootout pits elite athletes against school going talent to encourage the youth to take up athletics.
Semenya is not able to compete in her regular 800m event due to World Athletics regulations, which she is currently appealing.
