Kenyan’s Sharon Lokedi pulled off an impressive performance to win the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon on debut on Sunday, 6 November.

 

Entering Central Park, the 2018 NCAA 10km champion was part of a three-way battle between 2022 World Champion Gotytom Gebreslase and Israel’s Lonah Salpeter.

Lokedi managed to complete the race in a time of 2:23:23, while Salpeter overtook Gebreslase to claim second in 2:23:30. While, Gebreslase settled for third on the podium in a time of 2:23:39.

South Africa’s Gerda Steyn completed the race in 11th position.
