Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce became the first woman to win five 100m World Championship titles after her record-breaking performance at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon on Sunday, 17 July 2022.
Fraser-Pryce previously won the 100m race in 2009, 2013, 2015, 2019 and now in 2022 with a championship record time of 10.67.

The Jamaican ladies made it a clean sweep with Shericka Jackson coming in second with a personal best time of 10.73 and four-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah claiming the bronze medal in 10.81.

The world championship record holder after the race said she felt “blessed to have this talent and to continue to do it at 35, having a baby, still going, and hopefully inspiring women that they can make their own journey.”
She also spoke on her continuous success, saying: “The secret behind my success is that I am a competitor, I love to compete and I believe God has given me a gift.”
