Springbok Women’s Squad Trains

The South African Rugby Union has announced a 32-member women’s squad that will attend a training camp in preparation for a two-test series against Scotland in June 2008.

The squad, which includes 12 players from provincial champions, Eastern Province, will train at the High Performance Centre in Hatfield, Pretoria from 30 November to 2 December 2007.

Mahlubi Puzi, Manager: Women’s Rugby & Sevens at SARU said he believed the strength of the provincial women’s rugby league will help strengthen the national setup, pointing to the success of Eastern Province, Blue Bulls, Border, KZN, and Boland.

Puzi added that in the coming months, there will be a strong focus on the Sevens team in preparation for 2009 Rugby World Cup in Dubai.
