2020 Momentum gsport Awards Public Choice winner and star squash player, Awande Malinga, has qualified to represent Team South Africa at the Women’s World Junior Individual Squash Championships in August 2022.
The massively talented Malinga is one of the top six under 19 girls to receive the call-up. However, to make attending this showpiece a reality, she needs a sponsor to assist with the costs of the trip.
The trip to France, from 7-17 August 2022, will require an urgent R25 000, 00 by June 15 and a balance of R45 000, 00 by July 1 2022. This amount includes return flights, hotel accommodation, tournament entry fee and a team manageress.
While the Malinga family will take care of other costs such as a visa and meals, estimated to be around R15 000,00, the young squash protégé needs all the assistance she can get.
The 17-year-old has made her mark in the junior ranks, consistently putting out incredible performances that have made her an incredible ambassador for the country and has the potential to be the future national and world squash champion.
The Malinga family has also stated that the organisation or potential funders/sponsors can enter into an agreement to have Awande as the Brand Ambassador of their institution.
We fund many a questionable endeavours as a country, as a world, but this one is not only investing in youth, it’s also investing in women and the future of the game of squash in our county. So surely we can do best by our Awande.
Cost of the Tour: Approximately R45 000 (Excluding Cost of Lunch and Dinner)
