Saturday’s crowds to the beach were spoilt for choice on the second day of the Durban Beach Festival, with the non-stop flow of activities happening at the Durban Beachfront.
“The beachfront was a hive of activity today, and like our winter season tag line says Durban’s HOT with so much to do,” said Lindiwe Mahlangu, Head of Durban Africa on Saturday.
“There was so much going on that I’m sure we pleased everybody, from the massage spa to the surfing, we had it all covered.
“I saw lots of families and out of town visitors trying to escape the cold winter that the rest of the country is experiencing and obviously choosing to spend time in sunny Durbs,” added Mahlangu.
On the sports front, the stage has been set for volleyball and bodyboarding showdowns on Sunday, as thousands of sports fans to the Golden Mile enjoy world class Mr Price Pro surfing, the SABC Aca Joe Pro Beach Volleyball tournament and the Durban Beach Pro-Am Bodyboarding contest.
A lucrative prize purse of R100, 000 has attracted the country’s finest pro beach volleyball players to compete in the AA rated SABC Aca Joe Pro Beach Volleyball event, which carries valuable national rating points.
