SWD, Border and Western Province on Wednesday continued their fine form in the National Girls Under-16 Week at the HT Pelatona Projects Stadium in Welkom as they registered their second round of victories to secure back-to-back wins in the tournament.
SWD registered the biggest victory of the day with a morale-boosting 61-0 win against the Leopards, while Border defeated the Limpopo Blue Bulls 32-0 and Western Province beat Border CD 24-10.
Eastern Province and Boland also retained their unbeaten status as they played to a 17-17 draw in a nail-biting encounter.
Boland opened up the competition with a 44-0 victory against the Golden Lions, but they faced a tough challenge from Eastern Province, who registered their second draw in the tournament after they finished level on 22-22 with Border CD on Monday.
Western Province, who edged Border in the final match of the competition last season to emerge as the top team, will again meet their East London counterparts in the final match of the tournament on Friday.
Western Province held their nerve to defeat Border 12-10 in a nail-biting final match last season, and with both sides having set high standards in the two opening rounds, with Border scoring over 30 points in both their matches and Western Province over 24 points, the clash should be entertaining.
The National Girls Under-18 Week will be hosted in Kimberley next week, and will follow a similar format with matches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
