World Record for Maria Combrink

Para-athlete Maria Combrink, a single leg amputee, secured a new World Record in the women’s F64 shot-put event with a massive 11.15 metre heave on the closing day of the Toyota SASAPD National Championship in Gqeberha. Unfortunately due to a curtailed programme at this years’ Paralympics, Combrink’s class does not have a medal event at the Paralympic Games, and she can’t qualify for a rare South African entry to the world stage.
