Team South Africa’s U17 footballers have been included in the Region 5 Youth Games Best XI, which was released on Tuesday, 13 December 2022.
Sinazo Ntshota, Gositang Motshegwe, Portia Masilela and Casey Gordon showcased energetic skill and talent throughout the tournament, which saw them being included in this year’s competition.
Ntshota, who locally plays for City Lads was honoured with Player of the Match accolade after the girls won 4-3 in the final.
Captain Motshegwe played a crucial role against Namibia, impressively scoring in the second minute of the game. The match eventually ended 12-0 in favour of the South Africans.
Playing against the hosts, Malawi in their opening match, Masilela put on an excellent performance where they won 4-1.
Goalkeeper Gordon was impressive behind the sticks as she eventually walked away with the Golden Glove accolade.
Team South Africa concluded the tournament as champions after beating Zambia in the final.
