Team SA’s Kata Secure Bronze at 2023 African Beach Games

The second edition of the African Beach Games (JAP-2023), organised from 23-30 June in Hammamet, kicked off on Friday evening at a ceremony held at the open-air theatre in the Tunisian resort city.

Team SA are participating in seven sporting codes, which include Athletics (Beach Marathon 10km), Badminton (Air), Rowing (Beach Sprint), Canoeing (Ocean Racing), Swimming (Open Water), Karate (Kata), and Wrestling (Beach).

The Women’s Kata team already secured the first medal for the country, grabbing a bronze medal in their respective category.

The team consists of Maxine Willemse, Ayesha Esop, Timia Goberdin and Sanjana Maharaj.

The African Beach Games will serve as qualifiers for the World Beach Games scheduled to be held in Bali, Indonesia in early August 2023.
