gsport Newsroom writer, Tlamelo Kganakga, has been inspired to continue breaking barriers as she was honoured with Journalist of the Year (Radio) at the North West Sport Recognition Awards in Sun City on Friday, 4 March 2022.
The community radio journalist has seen a sharp rise in her career over the past few years as she continues to shine the spotlight on women and young girls in sport.

Speaking on her award, Kganakga says: “The award means I’m doing something right and being recognised. I believe more than anything that with this award means I still need to keep putting in the work and remember why and who I’m doing this for.”
In September 2021, Kganakga joined the gsport Newsroom team as she stepped up to challenge herself in the writing space.
It has been an incredible learning experience for Kganakga who is growing in leaps and bounds in her evolving career.
