Week two of the new women’s touch rugby league, takes place at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg this evening.
Organiser Colleen Mills has told gsport that the first outing last Thursday was a success despite the late withdrawal of one of the teams because of sick players.
“Every lady that came down had a good time. The new ladies enjoyed playing a new sport and the more experienced players enjoyed playing a different type of game,” said Mills.
“Actually, I was most worried about the more experienced players, because I thought they might be frustrated playing with beginners, but they enjoyed the game as much, or even more than the new players.”
This women’s Touch Rugby League runs for 10 weeks, and Mills says they still have space for more ladies to join if anyone is interested.
Teams can enter online at the Touch Rugby website, may call 08600 Touch (086 008 6824) during office hours for more information, and individual participants can also contact Colleen Mills ([email protected]), who’ll slot you into a team.
