Game week 15 of the SAFA National Women’s League produced 19 goals as 10 teams were in action on Saturday, 18 January and Sunday, 19 January 2020. However, the match between University of Western Cape and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns got postponed.
It was raining goals at the Showground Stadium in Bethlehem when Tsunami Queens welcomed Thunderbirds Ladies. There were seven goals between these two sides. Thunderbirds with a 4-3 victory against the hone side. Tsunami have recorded the most number of defeats in the league with 12 defeats to their name.
Coal City Wizards recorded they seventh win of the season when they beat Golden Ladies of Mafikeng 3-2. This result leaves Wizards fourth on the log with 26 points and Golden Ladies ninth.
Durban Ladies earned a back to back win, beating First Touch Academy 3-2. The last time these two teams met, First Touch Academy were victorious with four goals to one win.
On Sunday, Bloemfontein Celtic suffered their third defeat of the season when the Red Machines, TUT, slotted two goals home and kept a clean sheet. Six points separate these two sides as TUT are placed second and Bloemfontein third on the log standings.
University of Johannesburg recorded their first victory in three matches against Richmond Ladies. Amanda Mthandi’s 79th minute goal sealed the victory for UJ at the UJ Soweto campus, winning the match 2-1.
