University of Johannesburg’s under 20 women’s team successfully defended their Gauteng Engen Knockout Challenge title at Marks Park Sports Ground on Sunday, 09 July 2023.

The defending champions emerged victorious after a 1-0 win over their formidable opponents, JVW Girls.

UJ’s women’s team displayed their exceptional talent and determination throughout the competition, with their remarkable performances securing their third consecutive championship title. Their path to the final was marked by impressive victories, including a standout semi-final match against University of Pretoria, where they achieved an astounding 5-0 triumph.

The UJ development team’s success can be attributed to their outstanding skills, which captivated both spectators and opponents. Their seamless passing, impeccable ball control, and clinical finishing were evident in every match, setting them apart as a force to be reckoned with.

This triumph not only secures UJ’s status as the reigning champions but also grants them the opportunity to represent the province in the upcoming Engen Champ of Champs competition, scheduled to take place later this year.
