Former United States goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris announced her retirement from professional football on Monday, 14 November 2022.
After a decorated career for club and country, @Ashlyn_Harris has announced her retirement from professional soccer.

Harris was part of two World Cup winning squads for the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) in 2015 and 2019.
She was also the starting goalkeeper in 2002 for the U19 FIFA Women’s World Cup championship winning squad.
The 37-year-old has a total of 25 caps for the senior national team, she participated in 10 seasons of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and was part of the USWNT for 20 years.
Her final appearance with USWNT was in 2020 during their 8-0 victory over Haiti in the CONCACAF Olympic qualifier.
On the club side, Harris won Goalkeeper of the Year in two different leagues in 2011 with Western New York Flash of WPS and then in 2016 with the Orlando Pride in the NWSL.
Harris, who intended to be Gotham FC no.1 goalkeeper, only played 8 matches for Gotham this season due to an undergoing surgery on her knee in September.
“It has been my greatest honour to represent this country both on and off the field,” Harris said.
“I started this journey with U.S. Soccer at the age of 13 and it has shaped me in every part of my life. I’m proud of the woman I’ve become, and I can only thank the people who have supported me and lifted me throughout it all. Thank you to all my youth national team coaches, full national team coaches, goalkeeper coaches, support staff, and everyone in between,” she added.
“To all my teammates, you have been the driving force to my longevity. This journey has always been about the people for me, so thank you for all the incredible memories and life-long friendships. To the fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope in some small way I’ve impacted your lives the way you all have impacted mine,” she concluded.
