The US Golf Women’s Open tournament will become the largest prize purse for the women’s side of the game after the USGA announced new prize money to $10 million.
The association nearly doubled this year prize money with an increase from $5,5 million with an option to further increase over the next five years to $12 million.
This announcement came after the US Golf Association struck a deal with a non-governmental organisation – ProMedica – which is aimed at elevating the US Women’s Open.

In addition to the increase in prize money, the women’s tour will also be held at some of the classic courses that have hosted the men’s event for decades.
US Golf Association CEO Mike Whan believes that the sponsorship is a giant leap forward: “The U.S Women’s Open has always been the one championship to lead the way in women’s golf, and today, thanks to the support of our new partner, we are taking another giant leap forward, with renewed purpose, record-setting purse and incredible venues.”
The 2022 edition of the Women’s Open is set to take place from the 2nd of June to the 5th at Pine Needles Lodge in North Carolina.
