Defending champions UWC, UJ and TUT all secured their spots in the semi-final round of the Varsity Football Cup with a game to spare, on Wednesday 12 October 2022.
The second round saw 14 goals scored across the four games played.

UWC secured their spot having made it two wins in two, after beating DUT 5-0 at the UJ Soweto stadium. DUT find themselves bottom of Group A, with no wins to their name.
FULL TIME and the defending champs pick up a fifer against DUT as well as keep a clean sheet. Slow start, but they consistently applied pressure to force error form the defence.

UJ’s round one hattrick hero Sphumelele Shamase continued her fine form, providing a goal and an assist in her team’s 3-0 win over NWU.
UP TUKS bounced back from their first round defeat in style, putting four goals past UL to get their 2022 campaign back on track. UL were the masters of their own demise, with the team from Pretoria taking full advantage of their errors.

TUT, who were aiming to build on their opening day win, beat Wits 2-0, adding onto the misery of their opening day loss. The Red Army’s goals were scored on either side of half time, securing them a place in the next round.
