Group A teams earned their first victories on the third day of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA qualifiers, held at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Friday, 1 September 2023.
The day began with an exciting clash between the Comores’ Double Action Ladies and the Lesotho Defence Force. Double Action Ladies secured a hard-fought victory with a final score of 1-0, ensuring they walked away as the winners in their match against the Lesotho team.
The game began at a cautious pace and reached halftime without any goals scored. However, Double Action Ladies maintained their relentless pressure and determination, resulting in a breakthrough in the 57th minute. Leungo Senwelo, a substitute, found the back of the net. Despite their efforts, Lesotho Defence Force couldn’t secure an equalizer.
An hour and a half later, another match commenced, featuring Green Buffaloes and Malawi’s Ntopwa FC. Both teams entered the game with a strong desire for victory, fully aware of its significance.
Zambia took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal by Maylan Mulenga, forcing Ntopwa FC to play catch-up, but ultimately, they couldn’t avoid the defeat.
