Talented South African discus thrower Yané van der Merwe is setting sight on representing the country at the upcoming World Championships as well as the next two Paralympic Games.
Van der Merwe recently made headlines when she struck gold at the SASAPD National Championships in Cape Town.
She not only set a new South African record, but also equalled the African record.
Speaking to SABC News, van der Merwe said: “I definitely want to go to Paris next year. So, we have a world championship coming up in July. I’m really working hard to make the team for the world champs, and after that, Paris. Both are in Paris. It would be amazing to make the team.”
