SA Enters Greatest Race on Earth
Standard Chartered Bank, one of the world’s most international banks with 50 000 employees in 56 countries, including South Africa, has announced its sponsorship of a South African women’s team to compete in the 2006/07 Standard Chartered Greatest Race on Earth.
Longboarders Short on Patience
Longboard surfing entries for the fourth annual South Coast Surf Carnival presented by Jeep and The Mercury have been pouring in. The national longboarding contest takes place on 28 and 29 October at Scottburgh beach on the KZN south coast and runs in conjunction with a kitesurfing event that starts a day earlier.
Pells Drops to Repercharge
Top South African bodyboarding athlete Lyndall Pells has placed third in her first heat at the 2006 International Surfing Association’s 21st World Surfing Games, her two scoring waves counting to a total of 5.93, just behind second-placed Gemma Harris (UK) on a perfect 6.0.
