Top-rated Alexa Lombard and Abbey Miedeman finished the 2008 Hansa Powerade
Dusi Canoe marathon in first place, after leading the three-day event all the
way from Pietermaritzburg to Durban
at every stage finish.

The winning
pair won convincingly ahead of Laura Thompson and Robyn Kime, breaking both the
stage and overall records for an overwhelming win, finishing 15 minutes ahead
of the silver-medalists.

Proof of the
winner’s efforts was their worst overall position of 28th place at every stage,
proving a significant challenge to the most accomplished of men’s paddlers too.
Finishing the podium positions were the pairing of
Debbie Germiquet with Hilary Jean
Pitchford.
