The 17th African Artistic Gymnastics Championships returns to South Africa where it will be hosted at Heartfelt Arena in Tshwane from 25-27 May 2023.
The competition will see eight nations compete for top honours in the premier women’s artistic gymnastics competition, including hosts South Africa, Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Egypt, Mali, Morocco and Tunisia.
President of Gymnastics Southern African Donovan Jurgen said: “We are excited to host the 17th African Artistic Gymnastics Championships. This is a great opportunity for our top gymnasts to compete in a major international competition in front of their home crowd. It’s also an ideal event for the African Gymnastics community to come together and celebrate the sport we love. We invite South Africa to join us over the three days and witness the best gymnasts on the continent in action.”
The competition will include individual and team events, the competition is a qualifying event for the World Championships which will take place in Antwerp in October this year.
Jurgens added: “Taking place at the same time will be the first ever South Africa versus Wale Gymnastics challenge. This competition will see South Africa take on Wales in a team and all-around competition, featuring South Africa’s top artistic gymnasts.”
Entrance to the competition is free of charge and the public is encouraged to support SA Gymnastics.
