Alex Morgan, an American professional football player, has become the most endorsed woman athlete of 2022.
The National Women’s Soccer league player scored a total of 27 brand deals in 2022, some of which are Coco-Cola, Chipotle, Google and AT&T.
This is more than any football, basketball, baseball, or soccer athlete received. Morgan surpassed tennis stars, Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, and American soccer player, Ali Krieger who were the top 3 most endorsed female athletes of 2021.
Morgan who plays forward for the San Diego Wave’s was the youngest player on the U.S. World Cup roster for the 2011 World Cup. She scored the semi-final goal against France and later, scored again against Japan in the final. This was just the introduction for Morgan to become one of the best goal scorers in the U.S. soccer history. In March 2019, Morgan scored her century goal, and it was spoken about by many people for weeks.
The 33-year-old has not only taken herself to the top, but she has included her team. Morgan helped the U.S. National Women’s Team win both the 2015 and 2019 World Cups and won a gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Over the past couple of years, attendance, viewership, and social engagement for women’s sport has increased and so have the brand deals. Brand deals across women’s sport have increased by 20% year-over-year. Due to more engagement, it has led to more financial backing through investments and sponsorships which is starting to pay off and will continue to grow in the upcoming years.
