Anastasia Venter clinched the title of Women’s Champion at the 59th SA Surfing Championships in a thrilling conclusion, in Victory Bay, Cape Town on Sunday, 4 August, 2024.

The Open Women’s Final saw Venter dominate from the start, leveraging her international competition experience to her advantage.

The brisk offshore conditions set the stage for a fiercely contested battle, with Natasha van Greunen demonstrating her determination by aggressively chasing a victory throughout the heat.

Meanwhile, Danielle Powis showed moments of brilliance with her backhand manoeuvres, although Katie Winter struggled to find the best waves.

The standout moment of the final came when Venter scored a 7.33, the highest heat score, for an impressive ride that featured a series of well-executed turns and a ride all the way to the inside.

Despite Van Greunen’s solid effort, which earned her a 5.9 score, it was not enough to surpass Venter, who emerged as the new South African Women’s Champion.
