At just 20 years of age, Mu has not only become the youngest athlete in history to win both the Olympic and World Title in an individual track and field event, but she is also the first USA woman athlete to win the 800m race category.
Just under a year ago at the age of 19, Mu won gold at the Toyko Olympics in the 800m.
On Sunday, the American went head-to-head all the way to the finish line, with Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson, who won the silver medal.
She was pushed to her limits but held on to claim her first World Championship title in a time of 1:56:30, with Hodgkinson finishing in a time of 1:56:38. Mary Moraa of Kenya claimed the bronze medal in a time of 1:56:71.
