With just one day to go to what will be a historic moment not only for Banyana Banyana but for South African women’s football as well, messages of support for Mzansi’s representatives at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup continue to pour in.
Despite the 7-2 thrashing in their friendly and final preparation match against Norway last Saturday, most South African football followers’ faith and trust in the girls’ journey in the upcoming prestigious tournament haven’t been dampened.
Gsport Blogger, Lerato Mkhondo caught up with newly crowned Miss Mamelodi Sundowns, and a prominent football fan, Faith Nonyane, who had a special message for the 49th FIFA ranked side.

“Although, gender discrimination in sports had always been an issue, and women are experiencing something different from men and had prevented them from progressing, the ladies’ hard work and dedication on their craft has really uplifted South African women’s sport”.
“My support for the ladies has largely increased over the years. More especially after they won the COSAFA Women’s Championship for two consecutive years, and, finishing as runners-up at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations”.
“I would like to wish them all the very best of luck as they’ve worked very hard to qualify for the Women’s World Cup. Banyana deserve everything for the efforts that they have put in, in ensuring that they are part of this world class and exciting women’s football competition”.
