Bok Women Bag Rugby Africa Womens Cup Crown

Springbok Women lifted the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup title, after a thrilling 79-8 win over Madagascar at Stade Maki in Antananarivo on Sunday, 28 May 2023.

The South Africans won all their three matches, including emphatics wins over Cameroon (87-0) and Kenya (48-0)

The victory over Madagascar sees the South Africans secure qualification to the new WXV 2 tournament, which will be played in the Western Cape in October.

Speaking to SARU Communications after the match, interim head coach Louis Koen said: “We are grateful to Rugby Africa for the opportunity, it was a wonderful experience and to everyone involved, we can only lift our hats.

“This tournament also allowed us to bring in some younger players and blood them in Test rugby. The tour and conditions over here also allowed the team to bond and that will benefit us going forward,” he concluded.
