Speaking to gsport shortly before teeing off for her final round at the World Amateur Team Championships today, Kelli Shean sounded excited at what the day may bring for her and South Africa.
“We’re feeling really awesome,” said Shean, “It’s an amazing position to be in. Yesterday was just a little harder than the first two days, and we probably tensed up a little.”
“On the flip side, it was great to see (team-mate) Stacy (Bregman) coming good, after struggling with her putting on the first two days.”
Bregman’s three-under par 69 on the Stellenbosch Golf Course on Friday combined with Shean’s even-par 72 to the team’s 3-under par total for the day.
Bregman’s best game of the tournament was instrumental in increasing SA’s advantage at the top of the leader board, after good rounds by Ashleigh Simon and Shean on days one and two.
The three tee off for their final rounds at the De Zalze Golf Course today between 11:40 and 12pm, a benefit that will allow them to keep tabs on progress in front of them.
