Rosanne Hodge continued her good form in round three of the Open Women’s Division at the ISA World Surfing Games, progressing with ease to the Women’s Open fourth round in Huntington Beach, California.
Hodge won her round three heat by scoring her tournament best score 15.83, which beat Hawaii’s Lani Hunter (11.73), Argentinean Laura Pegorano (8.10) and Spain’s Mirka Martin (5.40).
Pegorano and Martin are eliminated from the event, and will now contest the Women’s Open repecharge stages.
In round four, Hodge will surf against Patricia Rossie (Tahiti) and Women’s World Championship Tour surfers Jacqueline Silva (Brasil, rated sixteenth on the Women’s WCT) and Jessi Miley-Dyer (Australia, 5th).
Fellow South African surfer Tammy-Lee Smith finished fourth in her third round heat with a disappointing 5.37, and will contest 4th-round repecharge against Brazil’s Diana de Souza, who scored 8.07 in her third round to place third in her heat.
