Burger King Stakes SAFA U19 League Champs

The 2014 U19 Regional Women’s League Championships was launched at SAFA House on Thursday, 14 August 2014.

The launch of this year’s championships was presided over by SAFA CEO, Dennis Mumble and a representative from sponsors Grand Parade Investment and its subsidiary company Burger King.

This year’s championships will be hosted by SAFA Vhembe region in Thohoyandou, Limpopo and will run from 18-24 August 2014.

Each of the provincial sides will have to submit a list of 18 players and all players must produce their respective South African ID cards or a valid passport.

Only players born on or after 1 January 1996 and playing in the SAFA Regional Women’s League and lower leagues are allowed to participate in the championships.

Speaking at the media launch, which coincided with the public draw, Mumble said the annual U19 Women championship was a vital tool in the entire development of women football.

“This is the platform which produced most of the stars now doing duty in the Banyana Banyana squad and we hope the upcoming tourney will produce yet other future stars.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our proud sponsors GPI and its subsidiary company Burger King. Without them most of such activities would not be realised,” he said.
