Cape of Good Hope SPCA Set to Brave the IMPI Challenge

A team of 30 Cape of Good Hope SPCA staff members will brave the infamous IMPI Challenge at the Purple Windmill (Stellenbosch) on Saturday, 23 November 2019 for the “love of all animals”.

Established in 1872, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the founding society of the SPCA movement in South Africa and is the oldest animal welfare organisation in the country. A registered non-profit and Public Benefit Organisation, the society relies on the support of concerned individuals and corporates to continue operating.

“This is the first time that we have managed to round up such a large, diverse team of staff comprised of vets, inspectors, animal care assistants, kennel hands, orderlies, horse care unit staff and more,” says Natasha Johannes, Fundraising Officer Cape of Good Hope SPCA.

“The team has taken up this challenge to symbolise the challenges that must be overcome every day during their duties at the SPCA. These are the people who witness cruelty first-hand, the people who reach out with kindness to animals who are cowering in fear and the people that animals can count on every single day to ensure that they are fed, clean, healthy, comfortable and loved.

“These are the people who rise to fight every single day despite frequent heartache and tears. These are the jobs that only the brave are called to and we are hoping that our team of animal warriors will be well supported in recognition of their bravery and tenacity that sees them always overcoming their challenges. Please consider showing them some love by donating towards a cause that they really care about!  Contributions of R100 or more will be recognised with a FREE reversible sports scarf,” Johannes ended.
