The North West Dragons Women had an exceptional and very successful season as they made history without losing one single match this season. The women secured both the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Women’s Provincial One-Day Cup and Provincial T20 Cup titles.
To top it all off, they clinched the title for the 2018/19 Cricket South Africa (CSA) Women’s National Week that was held from the 25th – 29th of March in Bloemfontein.
Speaking to one of the ladies, Tazmin Brits who scored more than 600 runs this season alone shared that the team spirit played a major role in the success. “Every single one of the girls contributed tremendously to the team exceeding all expectations as a unit.”

The coach, Francois van der Merwe shared his excitement as his side became number one in the country, highlighting how women’s cricket in the country is on the rise and hopes for partnerships with major brands going forward.
“Four of the Dragons women were elected to the Protea Women Sri Lanka Tour’s practice squads, and have all represented the national team in either the ODI or T20 format.”
The following players represented Proteas in Sri Lanka this season:
Lizelle Lee – both T20 & ODI
Masabata Klaas – both T20 & ODI
Tazmin Brits – T20
Tumi Sekhukhune – both T20 & ODI
“As the reigning champs this season they set the bar with a treble, the ladies will look to maintain their form and defend all titles next season,” said van der Merwe.
