Ethiopia’s Chaltu Negashu bagged gold medal honours at the 27th edition of Soweto Marathon on Sunday, 06 November 2022.
Negashu completed the race in 2:40:56 to top her compatriots, Amelework Fikadu Bosho who took second place in 2:43:14 and Tinebebe Nebiyu Ali who concluded the podium in 2:44:32.
In the half-harathon race, Lebo Phalula finished in 1:21:46 to claim first place, meanwhile Cacisile Sosibo also grabbed the 10km race title with a time of 35:14.
While in the ultra-distance, runner Adele Broodryk was the only South African woman to finish ninth in the Top 10.
