South Africa’s Professor Christa Janse van Rensburg has been appointed by World Netball as Chair of the World Netball Medical Advisory Panel (MAP), as announced on Wednesday, 14 June 2023.

The Panel is responsible for advising the World Netball CEO and Board on medical and health and wellness problems, as well as working closely with them to support the creation and implementation of agreed priorities in the Strategic Plan.

Janse van Rensburg, a licenced Sports Physician, contributor to several educational publications, and Head of the Sports Medicine Section and Full Professor at the University of Pretoria, will take up the post for two terms.

Taking to Twitter, the Professor said: “I feel honoured to be appointed Chair of the Medical Advisory Panel for World Netball.”

She has served as team doctor at a number of tournaments, including the All-African Games and the Commonwealth Games, and has also offered medical support to other sports, most notably during the 2004 Olympic Games.
